Citrix Systems has acquired Ardence Inc., a developer of technology that can stream operating systems and its applications to a diskless PC from a server.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida based Citrix Systems has acquired Ardence Inc., a developer of technology that can stream operating systems and its applications to a diskless PC from a server.
In order to have better products, Citrix has been growing inorganically by acquiring companies. It has so far spent USD 600 million in the last three years to acquire companies.
According to Citrix, Ardence portfolio will help the company to reduced desktop administration costs and improve security. Though Citrix did not disclose the price of the acquisition, it did say the acquisition would be complete in the first quarter of next year.
Founded in 1980, Ardence has about 100 employees and 3,000 customers, including Time Warner Cable, Dow Corning, Hollywood Video, Boeing, Raytheon, Freeze.com, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Energy. Ardence has two product groups: one focused on on-demand provisioning, the other focused on real-time operating systems, the company said.
“The acquisition is expected to add approximately to million in revenue to fiscal year 2007 and is expected to have little or no impact to EPS on a GAAP basis and is expected to be neutral to EPS on an adjusted basis,” said Mike Cristinziano, vice president of strategic development, Citrix.
In June 2005, Citrix had acquired NetScaler Inc.—its largest buy so far— for about USD300 million from its Indian founder B.V. Jagadeesh.
